What I do as a trainer and coach-mentorIf you are satisfied with what you do at work, or where you are going, then this page won't be of much interest to you. But if you feel you could improve, or you are not producing your best at work, then ask yourself what is stopping you? When people ask themselves that question they often start to think about their knowledge and skills, and seldom about their behaviours, attitudes and beliefs, and the patterns of these that lurk below the surface, helpfully hindering you through their unconscious guidance. So whilst the first step is having a clear picture of what your best is going to look like - these are your goals - your next is to make a serious commitment to getting there. You may think of reading another management guru book, or going on another course, possibly even asking someone for advice. Then the energy dissipates, and the pressures of working life take over. Is there any other form of help available? Of course, there are many options, including training and coaching, mentoring and facilitating. We all have different approaches, different backgrounds and different personalities. You will want to choose a credible trainer/coach/mentor, with relevant experience for your needs as this can be a source of inspiration to consider alongside your own. You must assure yourself that they will act professionally, maintain confidentiality, abide by a Code of Ethics and that they engage actively in supervision and continuous professional development. My aim is based around your Learning, Support, Enabling and Results. Understanding your approach to learning is fundamental to your choice of learning environment and how you are going to make those changes. I support my clients with my background as an experienced business and finance professional, with a substantial track record of done-deals and financial management, large and small. I bring an international perspective from having worked through the whole lifecycle of major international multi-partner projects and, being equally comfortable with strategy and detail, bring my knowledge, expertise and flair to all stages of the cycle. Enabling is as much about developing your competencies and deeply learning the necessary knowledge, skills and behaviours as it is about becoming aware of those patterns that block your improvement. My focus is on the psychological as much as the practical elements of performance, reflective learning. Results are about a rigorous evaluation of outcomes, preferably focusing on value added and ROI. All this guides me in helping you meet your agenda for development and change. So there are two sets of expectations, mine and yours. I expect you to take your own learning needs very seriously. There is a simple structure to what I do and I expect you to follow it. You expect me to work to your agenda, to be available face-to-face, by phone and email, to be business-minded, to be psychological-minded, to act professionally and ethically. Most importantly this is expected by both of us to be a richly rewarding experience as we travel together for a while.
